“Today was a victory for the people of the sixth district of Minnesota with the release of the district map leaving our district largely unchanged. Though the court changed the district by drawing my residence out of the district and into district four, the vast majority of the people I currently represent remain in district 6. The area covered by our district isn’t just a place I represent in Congress; it is the community I call home. We are neighbors, business owners, friends and family. It is the place I grew up and where I graduated from high school. The voice of the people of the sixth district has been heard in the halls of Congress and across the nation. It is a common sense voice of the heartland of Minnesota, and I am honored to serve the people.

This spring, at the 6th District Convention, I will humbly ask my constituents for their endorsement to run on behalf of our party for a fourth term to Congress. Between now and that convention, I will be reaching out to the delegates from every corner of our district, asking for their support.

Minnesotans supported my Congressional campaigns since 2006 because I work tirelessly to shrink the size and impact of government, to cut bureaucratic red-tape, and to restore our individual liberties. In the upcoming campaign I will also work to bring more and higher paying private sector jobs to our district and to Minnesota, to fight to increase and legalize American energy production to bring down the high cost of gasoline and to stop the out-of-control, wasteful spending in Washington. And I will continue to make sure our country remains free, safe and sovereign.

My experience as a tax attorney, job creator and mother continue to guide my belief that we need a government that unleashes the free market, taxes less, and spends no more than it takes in. Despite no longer representing portions of Washington County, I will continue to press toward the goal of building a new bridge over the St. Croix River. I will also continue the fight reforming burdensome government regulations to help small businesses in Minnesota create jobs, and repealing Obamacare and Dodd-Frank. I am looking forward to working together with my supporters to run an aggressive campaign. And most importantly, I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Minnesota in district 6 and taking their voice and values to Washington, D.C.”

Bachmann first won Minnesota’s 6th Congressional district in 2006 and was elected again in 2008 and 2010.

While all Americans share in our national triumph, the unemployment numbers released just yesterday remind us that, while we honor our great successes, America still faces many great challenges. With nearly one out of ten Americans currently out of work, the realities of providing for a family and putting food on the table continue to weigh on millions of American workers as the days go by without any change. As President Obama continues to enact policies that send jobs overseas, devalue our dollar, and stifle American innovation and growth, it has become increasingly clear to famillies like these and all Americans that this is not what we signed up for. As a mother and a wife, the fates of these families weigh on me heavily as I work tirelessly to advocate for the pro-growth policies that will lead our nation back to economic prosperity, and they are at the forefront of my mind as I consider a run for the Presidency.
